General information

The idea for OYO was born when a father took his 7 year old son to a Red Sox game. When it came time to pick a souvenir, his son scoured the team shop looking for a toy he could actually play with. The two had recently spent a week building an elaborate starship from a popular building-block brand just to have the boy play only with the mini-figures that came with the ship. So mini-figures were on his son's mind but there were none to be found at the game!

The father put two-and-two together and started designing figures that could “play” baseball; with rotating forearms, bending knees, bat, ball, and glove. After extensive patent work, distribution strategy, and a lot of late nights, OYO obtained licenses with the league and players association for baseball as its first professional sport. Team logos and player features were added to make the figures complete.

But there’s more! You have to have great packaging. The goal of the packaging was, to have something that a kid could put in their pocket, and looked like both a toy and a 3-D baseball card. After many colors, concepts, and logos the final OYO package was complete and the rest is history in the making!
