SERVE Yavapai

General information

Poverty affects us all. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Currently, 15% of people in Arizona are living in poverty, including 24% of young children. Through alleviating poverty, we increase the potential of our whole community.

Bringing people together is the best way to solve problems and overcome challenges. Our communities are safer, healthier and more prosperous when we know each other, help each other and work with each other.

Service strengthens the fabric of our community. Service cultivates people’s strengths, creates connections and relationships, and builds capacity and sustainability for community non-profits.

Arizona Serve places AmeriCorps VISTA members in projects and organizations that work to fight poverty and improve their community’s quality of life. The work of VISTAs encompasses three main goal areas:

Social Welfare
Community Development
Civic Engagement

Our AmeriCorps VISTA members are placed in projects and organizations including schools, non-profit organizations, community groups and faith based organizations.
