General information
Our History and Philosophy:
The first home developed by Lifeline Services of Fond du Lac, Inc., Takodah House, was founded on the principle that every person, regardless of the severity of their disability, has the right and potential to live in the community. “TAH-KO-DAH” is an Indian word meaning “friendly” or “welcome to all.” The philosophy on which all services have been based is that individualized programs which allow for choices, opportunities for social interaction, and developmental experiences will lead to increased competence and enhanced self-esteem.
Purpose:
The ultimate aim of Lifeline Services is to provide a supportive home environment and family atmosphere that will serve as the foundation for community participation. The ultimate purpose is to have each individual with a disability develop to their fullest potential (through increased knowledge, skills, and abilities to respond to their environment) a meaningful level of community participation.
