Located in Nashville, Tennessee ("Music City"), Vanderbilt is a private research university that features four undergraduate schools and six graduate and professional schools. Each year, 1,600 first-year students join the university, bringing the total undergraduate population to approximately 6,800 students, many of whom collaborate with professors on cutting edge research projects and present their findings at professional conferences.

Vanderbilt University offers an incredibly diverse array of studies across and among its four undergraduate schools: Peabody College of Education and Human Development, the College of Arts and Science, the School of Engineering, and the Blair School of Music. Vanderbilt students are encouraged to take classes in a wide variety of subjects – inside and outside their specific school of study – and often engage in interdisciplinary fields of study. Moreover, Vanderbilt faculty come from the most prestigious universities in the world and have been awarded some of the highest honors in their respective fields.

Outside the classroom, Commodores participate in 460+ student organizations, Division I athletics in the mighty SEC, and a number of service-related extracurriculars, such as Alternative Spring Break, which was founded at Vanderbilt.
