Radford Coffee Company Company Information
General information
Radford Coffee Company gives its profits to the Rio Coco, the river that is the boundary line between Nicaragua and Honduras. Everyday the money Radford Coffee Co. raises helps in the education of over 1200 students in 14 communities along the Rio Coco. This area has no electricity, running water, or roads. It is reached only by foot or dugout canoe. This project on the Rio Coco was started in 1986 by Mike and Laura Bagby, (who also currently run the other two partner coffee shops of this nonprofit, Rio Coco Beans Cafe in Vero Beach, FL, and in Utila, Honduras). Thousands of children and adults have been helped over the years through the education project. In fact, many of the teachers on the River were our first students!
So, when you are enjoying a cup of coffee at Radford Coffee Company, know that not only are our profits educating children in Nicaragua on the Rio Coco, but also the growers that we buy green coffee beans from (in Indonesia, Ethiopia, Honduras, and Mexico) are helping their own communities with development projects funded by our purchase of their coffee beans. This includes building wells and homes for their own communities.
It's awesome to be a part of such a unique connection of people around the world, and we are glad to invite you in. Thank you for sharing hope to others, and in helping communities grow and thrive.
