General information
The Tri-City Record was established as the Weekly Record in 1882. There is an original copy of the paper, datelined... Vol II Friday, September 23, 1883. The name was changed to the Watervliet Record by publisher/editor A.N. Woodruff in 1890. The newspaper's name was changed to the Tri-City Record by publishers Anne and Karl Bayer in October 1884. The Bayer's purchased the paper from Gordon and Joan Banasik in Feb. 1984. The Banasiks bought the paper from Winifred Case, widow of Francis, in 1959. The Case family owned and operated the Record for 68 years. Up to the Bayer's ownership the Watervliet Record was also a job printing shop.
